Optex, Inc., manufacturer of advanced Automated Door Sensor Products, is revolutionizing the installation process for field technicians by providing 3D interactive instructions via the BILT mobile app. Using active infrared technology, the Pro-Swing Elite T provides the largest fully active swing door safety detection area available today. The current pandemic has sparked public demand for more hygienic entrance solutions, since epidemiologists estimate COVID-19 may live up to three days on stainless steel. In hospitals, maintaining hygienic conditions may be a matter of life and death.

Optex sensors are sold through companies with AAADM certified inspectors. While this certification helps ensure the installations are compliant with current ANSI/BHMA standards, it does not always ensure each technician is fully trained on all available technologies or products used in the industry. In the environment of automatic doors, BILT enables installation training on equipment without requiring face-to-face trainings with each technician, which is time consuming and difficult to manage.

“We’ve partnered with BILT to help ensure proper installation and use of our Pro-Swing Elite T on automatic swing door applications. This is the first in what will become a series of instruction sets for our most sophisticated technologies,” said the President of the Entrance Division at Optex Inc. “Installation and maintenance is critical to optimum performance. This ensures the safest possible door for customers and pedestrians—that they never come into contact with the swing door panels during operation.”

“Now, more than ever, we are hyper-aware of everything we touch in the public space,“ said Francine Barrett, Director, Brand Support Sales at BILT Incorporated. “We’re confident 3D interactive instructions will help Optex perfect the installation experience for their technicians. The demand for hands free door sensors is going to increase dramatically in the next few years. 3D instructions will help Optex scale to accommodate growth. This technology has never been more important.”

Optex developed the world’s first automatic door sensor using infrared rays in Japan in 1980. Now, with thousands of products and offices on six continents, their mission is to “usher in a brighter future with a focus on helping to create safety, security, and comfort in societies around the world” through the use of sensing technology. The BILT app is available in more than 180 countries and 12 languages; 3D interactive instructions can be downloaded and accessed both on & off the grid. 3D interactivity allows BILT users to easily repeat steps, tap on a part for details, zoom in & out, and rotate images 360º. BILT is free to consumers and professional installers alike.
